Armstrong Legal — Criminal & Traffic Lawyers (NSW)

Armstrong Legal is a team of lawyers who do criminal and traffic law, and nothing else. Between us we run more than 1,000 cases a year, and our lawyers are in NSW courts almost every day.

We’re based in Sydney, but people right across New South Wales call us in to appear for them. We regularly travel—down the far south coast to Eden and Bega, up the far north to Byron, Ballina and Tweed, and out west to courts like Broken Hill, Lightning Ridge, Wagga, Albury, Dubbo, Orange and Mudgee.

Because we only do criminal and traffic law, we know it inside out. We share what we learn and work on cases together, so you get the benefit of the whole team’s experience—not just one person’s.

What we handle

We take on a wide range of criminal matters, including break and enter, stealing, sexual assault, assault causing serious injury, assaulting a police officer, drug charges and fraud. Some of our lawyers used to work as prosecutors, so we can see your case from both sides and use that to give you complete, honest advice.

Angela Cooney is the National Practice Director of Criminal Law at Armstrong Legal and is an Accredited Criminal Law Specialist.

Angela is a confident and formidable advocate for her clients. She commonly appears in very complex and serious matters but is able to assist clients with all kinds of criminal and traffic offences.  Angela is an experienced court advocate having appeared in the Local and District Court, the Court of Criminal Appeal as well as in federal jurisdictions in a multitude of matters, including complex strictly indictable trials.

With years of experience in criminal law, Angela understands the often interrelated issues that arise in criminal matters and is able to guide clients through emotional and difficult times with sensitivity. Angela is passionate about providing clients with high quality and easy to understand legal advice and her experience allows her to provide clients with a first-class service.
